Dear Aachener Stadtbetrieb,
Hello there. Since you are the office responsible for keeping the streets of this former imperial city clean, I thought I'd extend you a little thank you. Not only do you keep the streets of Aachen in true 'natural' conditions (just like the Middle Ages!) you also trim the bushes and trees in front of my tree-lined street.
In fact, so good at your job at the second task you are, that you have decided to begin cutting back trees and bushes at 6:45 IN THE MORNING. Excellent. Now in addition to waking up to the sounds of horns honking, traffic being blocked and garbage trucks, I can also be blessed with the sultry sounds of weed whackers and lawn mowers early in the morning. Whew! Thank you! I was afraid that I'd actually have to wake up 'in peace,' whatever that means.
I'm not actually sure what inspired you and your office of talented workers to pursue such a strategy of gardening at seven am (height of morning traffic!) but its a real nice touch. In a country where noise is strictly controlled (no moving, mowing grass or other loud noises on Sundays or between 1-3pm daily in some parts) you really stick out. Thank you for being a leader in the 'stick it to the man' industry.
I love how you are effectively using my 19% sales tax and 41% income tax to keep the streets clean. I like to think of the excessive amount of dog excrement as a challenge and practice for my future jogs in the landmine field that is the demilitarized zone between N. and S. Korea.
So, until you find another way to make life yet more pleasurable, I bid you adieu.
With best regards,
Christopher

I can understand your exasperation with all the low noise control standards that have over there. However, you, the great lover of the socialist Germany, they should be really upset with you this morning if they had your blog address. Here is my point. You proclaim your ability to speak fluently in English and German.
You grouse all over your blog about the blasted noise the street people make which obviously disturbs yoiu. I do not blame you but I at least respect my neighbors and wait until after 10 in the AM before I fire up my outdoor machines. Sometimes I can be unbeliebaly kind, reserved and understanding. Your error in grammer is a blatant and gross one. I do not use profanity and would never recommend the use of it but when you say goodbye to someone, you do not just slam the door in the persons face as you did to the Germans. You are living in Germany not France. I do not know how to say good bye in German but Adieu is not the appropriate word. Unless, you were just shoving a blody dagger into their snobby ribs. I hope that was a sterile dagger.
To the anonymous person from Reston, VA who decided to comment on my blog without proclaiming who they were:
Hello! Thanks for reading my blog on a daily basis. You claim I have perpetuated several grammar errors (at a quick glance nothing really sticks out to me) however your letter is peppered with several basic spelling mistakes, including your rendition of the word grammar (grammer as you have typed).
I don't know who you are...but I've never claimed to speak fluently in German. I barely get by in English, thanks.
By the way, consider weening yourself off drugs, before commenting on my blog. Thanks!
